Terms of Service
The plain-English agreement for using TokenLens.
Last updated: July 2026
These terms are a contract between you and TokenLens (“TokenLens”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use TokenLens.
1. What TokenLens does
TokenLens connects to your OpenAI and Anthropic accounts using a read-only API key you provide, reads your usage data, and shows you what you’re spending — with daily syncs, a month-end projection, and budget alerts. That’s it. We are a monitoring tool, not a payment or billing provider for your AI usage.
Important — our numbers are estimates.The dollar figures TokenLens shows are calculated from your provider’s usage data and publicly listed model prices. They are an estimate to help you stay ahead of your bill — notan official invoice. Your actual charges come from OpenAI and Anthropic, and their numbers are the ones that count. Always confirm against your provider’s own billing before making decisions.
2. Your account
You sign in with a one-time magic link sent to your email — there are no passwords. You’re responsible for keeping access to your email secure, and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us at hello@token-lens.com if you think someone else has gotten in.
3. The API keys you connect
- You should only connect keys you’re authorized to use. Don’t paste in someone else’s key without their permission.
- Connect read-only keys. TokenLens only ever reads usage — it never sends requests, spends tokens, or changes anything in your provider account.
- We encrypt your keys and never display them back to you after saving. You can delete a key at any time, which stops all syncing for it. See our Security page for how this works.
4. Acceptable use
Don’t use TokenLens to:
- break the law, or violate OpenAI’s or Anthropic’s terms;
- access an account or key that isn’t yours;
- attack, overload, reverse-engineer, or try to break the service or its security.
5. Billing
During early access, TokenLens is free. When paid plans begin, pricing is a flat monthly fee per plan (currently $19 / $49 / $99), billed through Stripe. No usage-based charges. You can cancel any time and you’ll keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. We don’t store your card details — Stripe handles that.
6. Early access — provided “as is”
TokenLens is early software. It may have gaps, downtime, or data that lags or is incomplete (provider usage APIs themselves update on a delay). We provide the service “as is,” without warranties. We work hard to be accurate and available, but we can’t promise perfection at this stage.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, TokenLens is not liable for any indirect or consequential losses, and specifically is not responsible for your AI provider bills— including a bill that’s higher than a TokenLens estimate suggested. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months (which, during free early access, is $0). TokenLens is a helpful early-warning tool, not a guarantee against overspending.
8. Ending things
You can stop using TokenLens and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. On closure, we delete your keys and usage data as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product grows. If we make a meaningful change, we’ll update the date above and, for material changes, email you. Continuing to use TokenLens after a change means you accept it.
